About Us and Our Art Work

Technique & Materials

Artists Janice Ososke-Chadd and Michael Chadd are currently collaborating to create original 3-d mixed media sculpture with paper, pigment and wood. We combine acrylic and watercolor paintings on watercolor paper with hand sculpted hardwood frames. The hardwood is faux finished with bronze, stone, marble, abstract and other finishes. All surfaces are sealed with a clear finish. We transform our paintings into unique 3-d mixed media sculpture. With some pieces the painting is back lit from a single bulb mounted within the frame, giving the painting a soft, warm glow that creates an added beauty and dimension to the paintings. Some pieces are non-illuminated and are strictly non-functional 3-d mixed-media sculptures. All work is original and completely created by the artists in collaboration.

Artist Statement: Our work is a reflection of our interest in the natural beauty in our world. We use real images but not in a realistic way. The use of light in some pieces is to create a tranquil aspect to the paintings, not meant as functional lighting. Our intention with this current work is to continually experiment and offer creative and unique original pieces, in a form not seen before.

Artists History: Janice studied art at the California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland, CA. and the University of California at Santa Cruz. Michael studied music and art at Sonoma State University in California. During the last twenty-five years they have shown their work at juried shows and galleries all over the U.S. Their current style of work has been evolving for the last ten years.
